There was inflation in May 2021 of 0.23 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Serang City by 0.36 percent

In May 2021 inflation was 0.23 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.71. The three CPI cities in Banten Province experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Serang City at 0.36 percent with a CPI of 108.84. Followed by the city of Tangerang at 0.22 percent with a CPI of 106.05 and the city of Cilegon at 0.19 percent with a CPI of 108.47.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of the clothing and footwear category by 0.62 percent; food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.56 percent; transportation group by 0.33 percent; personal care and other services group by 0.23 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.02 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decline in the index were the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.04 percent; and the health group by 0.02 percent. While the information, communication and financial services group; education group; and supply group food and beverages/restaurants experienced a change in index of less than 0.01 percent.

Month-on-month inflation rate is 0.23 percent, May 2021 calendar year inflation is 1.04 percent, year-on-year inflation (May 2021 to May 2020) is 1.49 percent.
